What does an average one or two bedroom apartment rent for in Los Angeles?

I am wanting to move to L.A.. And I’m wondering what a one or two bedroom apartment rents for. I’m also wanting to know are there any really rough, slum neighborhoods that one must avoid, if possible?

Look on a map of Los Angeles. Mark an area that has the 5 and 10 and 405 and 105 freeway as the boundary. Stay OUT of the area you have marked on the map.

One bedroom apts. are about $1000 per month. Try to move to an area close to where you will work. Traffic is terrible. at rush hour.

  1. I would say somewhere around 900-1,000 a month for a 1 bedroom. It’s very pricey . . Every city has it’s bad part and good parts .The best thing to do is drive around during the day and at night and check it out .Check out this website to see some apartments in LA

I lived in a Hollywood 1bd apt for about $950. It was about 700sq ft but not updated, like no air or dishwasher. Now I live in Mission Hills and pay $1095 for a 1bd. It’s about 400 sq ft but it has all new appliances and a huge patio. They want to raise my rent to $1250 so now I’m lookin for a new apt again.
It depends where exactly you want to live. I would look in the valley cuz it’s in the middle of everything and not a long drive to downtown or hollywood, about 15 no traffic. I would stay away from downtown though cuz its really dirty and lots of bums…but the apts there are mostly nice and remodeled and cheap. I wouldnt look for anything east of laurel cyn. And remember about traffic cuz it gets bad…you dont wanna be on the 405 freeway at 4:05
Oh, & that person above me is right, there are good areas and bad areas in every city, and the cities are all small and close to each other so you gotta be specific about where in LA u wanna live…
hope this helps ! Good Luck!

I never lived there but I do know there are gang infested neighborhoods. Be careful. Rent is high.
