Oh,man. This is one … Oh,man. This is one of the movies I grew up on. And they were all directed by Billy Wilder. Some like it hot, Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard and the Front Page.
I am not a moralist … I am not a moralist but Mc Clain’s character was a sleazeball, what we call in Europe “sloppy seconds” a woman who couldn’t care less about her bosse’s wife and family.
This is for … This is for Corrocot 1. It was a movie of its time. A New York story, perhaps implausible in parts. Why didn’t all these people just rent a hotel room? Good question. Hollywood makes movies that are implausible for the most part. That’s their business. Without it we would not have Jack Lemmon and Shirley McClain in some of the most delicious scenes, however improbable, ever put on film. That’s what it is all about.
For the life of me … For the life of me I cannot understand why people rave over this film. First of all I turned 50 this year and I had barely heard of it. I only watched it because Mary Kenny of the Saturday Independent said it was one of her favourite films ever. That should have set off the alarm bells her favourite politician is Maggie Thatcher.
If you are a top executive in any type of Corporation, would’nt it make more sense to book a hotel room?
I love this movie. … I love this movie. I saw it a couple of weeks ago on cable that shows old movies like this. I was born in the 80’s but I love these black and whites movies.
