Real estate agency help find apartment rentals?

Posted by admin on May 7th, 2010 and filed under apartment rentals | 2 Comments »

I need to find an apartment in another state and want to use an apartment finding service… What should I be looking up in the yellow pages for the state im trying to move to?

Real estate agent? I thought they only sold houses but people tell me they also find apartments to rent… if this is true is there a specific name for these types of agencies?

apartment finders or apartment locators are good ones but it really depends on where you are at or i mean where you are going to be living. If you add additional info i can try to find one or more for you!

Relocating to Chicago and need to know about apartment rentals?

Posted by admin on May 4th, 2010 and filed under apartment rentals | 3 Comments »

I may be getting a job in downtown Chicago, right near Union Station. What "neighborhood" is this considered? I need to find some decent rental options and don’t know the different neighborhood names (like Bucktown, etc) to know if they are near my new job. Any help (experience, websites, etc.) would be most appreciated!

    thanks,

    L

The area around Union Station is called the West Loop or Greektown. But you don’t need to live right next to where you work. In fact, it’s probably better as those places are mostly condos and pretty expensive right now. The public transportation is pretty good in Chicago and you can easily get back and forth to work from as far north as Edgewater. What you should do it do an apartment search on a site like the Chicago Reader’s apartment finder or some similar site. Search in your price range and then come back here and ask about the neighborhood. If you’re moving here for the first time, it’s probably better to worry about price before "convenience".

Does anyone have any experience of long term apartment rentals in Goa, India?

Posted by admin on April 28th, 2010 and filed under apartment rentals | 3 Comments »

And are there any good websites to check out to find one?

No need for websites – as soon as you land in Goa, you can head off for Calangute/Anjuna/Vagator/Dona Paula beach – plenty of places for rent. Too many Goans are happy to rent out apartments to foreigners – it is India’s most foreigner-friendly destination.

If you use a real estate agent (you’ll find lots in Panjim area – which is the capital of Goa) – you can get reasonable and affordable rates. Using a reliable middleman will help you save lots of money.

If you want it slightly cheap – you can go to some suburbs of Goa – I would recommend Vasco, Porvorim, Mapuca and Salsette areas. Vasco has some criminal gangs but they don’t harass foreigners unless you try to interfere in their mess. Kidnapping, robbery and looting are still unheard of in Goa. It is such a remarkable place that Goans keep their doors open even if they travel elsewhere for 2-3 days. Burglaries are still unheard of.

Since Goa is like a city-state, you can also buy a motorcylce (Indian-made) and have a gay-ride in the country. They’re available for 20-25000 rupees depending on make and condition. Plenty of used vehicle marts. Before leaving Goa, sell it back at 50% rates. Enough bang for your buck for a 6-month tourist visa.

Whatever you do – have a blast and stay out of some indulgent foreigners who do heroin, child prostitution and all that illegal stuff – we don’t like them obviously and it’s a growing problem in Goa. I hope you’re a good person – if you want wine, fish and monsoons – they’re plenty in Goa -

Where can I find apartment rentals in Berkeley, CA?

Posted by admin on April 26th, 2010 and filed under apartment rentals | 1 Comment »

I am going to move there and I am trying to look for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment in Berkeley. Is there any place to look for? How easy is it to find them? Are they all in good (safe/quiet) areas?

I heard they could be expensive, would $ 800-1200 monthly rent be enough (possibly including utilities ?)
