  • where can I find a nice cheap apartment in New Haven?

Posted by admin on May 10th, 2010 and filed under cheap apartment | 2 Comments »

I am looking to move to New Haven. I need to be near Yale University or The Green. I want to be in a "nice" area, but something affordable- $500-750. Where are some good places?

I am not from that area, but what I may suggest is checking the local papers in that area, or call a local Real Estate office in the area, they sometimes have their own rentals available.

Here is also some websites that I have heard are helpful.
    www.Rent.com
    www.ForRent.com

Either way, good luck to you!

Give me some advice for finding a cheap studio apartment in london?

Posted by admin on May 7th, 2010 and filed under cheap apartment | 1 Comment »

Okay basically… I have no clue! I’m trying to find a VERY cheap small studio apartment in london (preferably near leytonstone) and I have not clue where to start… advise me on what to do. I live in sheffield, do i go to an estate agent?

There’s nothing cheap about London. You’ll need to have a good idea of your price range and be realistic about what you’ll get for your money. If by ‘very cheap’ you mean something comparable to what you’d pay in Sheffield then you might be in for a bit of a shock.

You can use property websites such as http://www.findaproperty.com and http://www.rightmove.com to search for properties currently available to rent – but in order to view them and arrange the tenancy you’ll need to visit London in person and deal with estate agents. Gumtree is a good place to find properties which are being advertised by individuals (thus forgoing the expense and admin of an agent) but you don’t have the security of an agent and need to beware of scammers.

AMAZING WORM BIN – Cheap & Easy Set Up

Posted by admin on May 1st, 2010 and filed under cheap apartment | 15 Comments »

Ultimate recycling, creating one of the worlds best fertilizers with your leftovers. Instructions for setting up a basic Rubbermaid worm bin. Watch this step by step video on setting up an indoor worm bin for your kitchen scraps. You will be able to raise worms, keep your kitchen scraps and junk mail out of the landfill, and create rich compost for you plants. This is an easy vermiculture project you can do with the family. Perfect for city and apartment dwellers!

    FEEDING:
Make Sure NOT to feed the worms; ONIONS, CITRUS (Oranges, Lemons, Kiwi), FATTY FOODS, MEATs Or LARGE pieces of BREAD, They will RUN or DIE

FEED the worms small pieces of FRUITS, VEGGIES, COFFEE, PAPER, CARDBOARD, EGG SHELLS
THE SMALLER it is the faster it will turn into compost, I USE An old blender to blend my scraps once a week. This gives the scraps some time to start decomposing!! The worms eat the microbes that break down the food, not the food itself; so give the scraps a couple of days. If you don’t have an extra blender, or don’t want to spend $3 at a thrift store, use an air tight container under the sink.

USE: Rubber or Latex gloves when handling the worms, the oil on your hands can prevent them from breathing, since they breath through moisture on their skin.

KEEP: your bin out of direct sunlight, at about 65-75 degrees is the optimal temperature, if it gets too cold for the worms they will try to escape if they can’t get out they will die

The population doubles every 90 days, 1 to 2 thousand worms is a good starting place = 1-2 pounds.

Worm Castings = Worm Poop smells just like soil and is your AMAZING FERTILIZER! You can apply it directly to your soil or you can aerate it and make WORM TEA….. That video will come soon!!

Can someon help me find a cheap 1K apartment in Tokyo,Japan?

Posted by admin on April 30th, 2010 and filed under cheap apartment | 2 Comments »

I’m moving to Tokyo and i just wanted some help finding a cheap 1K apartment there.Any suggestions or links would be nice.

Pretty simple. Tokyo is a big place though.

Find the area you want to live in. As close to work as possible I would recommend. (Saves on the commute, my commute used to be 3 trains and 1 hour each way)

Find an estate agent who will work with you well. One that listens to what you want it key!

Getting recommendations from others for estate agents is good. I would not recommend any I have used in Tokyo sorry.

A 1K is basically a box. Tough to live in for long and also very difficult to "entertain" in. Or even have anyone visit.

Remember the triangle (age – location – size) So best location – newest and biggest will cost the most.

Consider which is most important to you and work from there. If you have allergies or health issues age is far more important and never live on a ground floor (mold, mildew etc)

If you are single look at the room shares as well if you are tight for money. Girls usually can find places easily.

    EVERETT WASHINGTON

Web sites are a good place to find an apartment or house to rent, if you want to go through the entire list to find one in your state and then city.

The best place to look for places to rent is to go to the yellow pages of your telephone book, look under property managers.

These individuals list properties for rent in certain areas, so make sure you select the areas in which you wish to rent.

Call several of the property managers listed there, tell them you want a list of properties that they have for rent. Some will fax, email or mail the list of local places to rent along with the address, number of bedrooms and bath rooms, amenities available, such as washer and dryers or gyms, the monthly rental of the unit. Most will include a rental application. These list will include the monthly rental required, if a lease or month to month agreement will be signed. They will also indicate if they will accept Section 8 vouchers.

They might indicate a web site that you might visit to get their list of places to rent. It does not cost to get a rental list from a reputable property manager.

Some will require you to stop by their office and pick up the list. A lot of them post their list outside so the list are available 24/7 360.

Make sure you don’t fall for the scams and purchase a list as 70%-80% of these list are composed of free list they have compiled. They are not the property managers of any property in most instances.

You might also google Property managers in whatever city or community you want to live in and see what comes up. Again do not pay for this information as it is free from reliable property managers.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

What’s the best time of year to find a cheap apartment in Portland, Oregon?

Posted by admin on April 26th, 2010 and filed under cheap apartment | 5 Comments »

I’m moving to Portland, Oregon sometime soon and I have a lot of freedom as to when exactly I’m going to move. I was wondering, then, if there’s a time of year where there are more apartments on the market. Maybe during the middle of or right after a college semester or something like that.

You will be able to find affordable apartments throughout the entire year. My husband owns several apartment buildings throughout California, Usually we run specials every other month. And with the variety of apartments in your town, you will find an amazing deal. Just take a few days out of your hectic life and search around. You will eventually find an apartment that is right for you.
Always ask about month to month, it may cost ten dollars more per month, but when you are looking for a quick escape this will come in very handy!

Good luck to you and all that comes your way!
