I lived in Tijuana, Mexico a few years ago for 200 dollars a month. My apartment was 3X bigger than that one, gated with private parking. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you want to ive somewhere bad enough you’ll do what it takes.

That’s positive thinking. Makes me want to move to NYC!

  11. I understand you …
I understand you 100% however, I was born and raised in the city and have a totally different concept of what is good as far as living environment. I would be bored out of my mind in Syracuse, have no interest in living in a house as opposed to a high rise and really would die if I had to mow a lawn or have nosy neighbors. I love the anonimity and frenetic energy of the city.

    For real?!?!

I’m in a beautiful 3 bdrm, 2 full and 2 half, finished basement, with yard and free-for-all parking townhome w/2 roommates (boyfriend and good friend from college) and we only pay $565 a piece/month :) Right down the road from shopping areas and about 30 minutes from D.C., 15 to the metro.

I loooove NYC but that is so not worth it!!!! Dang! I COMPROMISE to live somewhere nice AND affordable. More power to ya who love NYC enough to deal with living in a box though.

  20. I live in Syracuse, …
I live in Syracuse, NY…and i visited a friend of mine who lives in NY and it is insane how people live down there. I bought my own house 1400sq ft, brand new roof, new hardwoods, 3 BR, 1 1/2 bath with a fenced in backyard, and in a great neighborhood and my mortgage is under $900 a month. NY city life is for some people, and not for others.

I definitely couldnt do it, but as a place to visit, NY has it all. Amazing city!
